About the role#
The Clinical Nursing Student role at St. Francis Downtown provides direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. You will gain clinical experience through job shadowing and by performing tasks delegated by the nursing team. This is a full-time position working night shifts.
What you'll do#
- Support the Registered Nurse in the application of the nursing process.
- Record vital signs and participate in patient data collection.
- Assist patients with personal care, hygiene, mobility, ambulation, feeding, and nutrition.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to ensure quality care delivery.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
- Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
- Participate in patient hand-off reports.
- Report changes in patient condition or concerns to the nurse.
- Utilize clinical technology and escalate concerns through the chain of command.
- Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow directions from the healthcare team.
- Knowledge of patient safety standards, infection prevention, and nursing processes.
- Recent experience in an acute or long-term care facility is preferred.
- BLS certification and EPIC Electronic Health Record training are preferred.
