About the role#
The Student Engagement Coordinator oversees the student engagement program at Cornell College. This role influences leadership development for students through formal and informal methods. You will assist with retention initiatives and coordinate special events. This is a full-time position reporting to the Dean of Students.
What you'll do#
- Lead the design and implementation of New Student Orientation twice a year, including hiring and training staff.
- Serve as the advisor to the PAAC, meeting with the executive committee to support student entertainment and activities.
- Act as a resource for civic engagement programs like Lunch Buddies and Angel Tree.
- Support student clubs with contract negotiations, risk management, and equipment storage.
- Collaborate with Student Life staff on campus programming for events such as Homecoming and the Big Event.
- Manage administrative tasks including routine billings, travel requests, and budget oversight.
- Participate in the Leadership-on-Call rotation and supervise student employees.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree.
- At least three years of professional experience in higher education, preferably in student development, counseling, or education.
- Knowledge of student life at a small, residential liberal arts college.
- Effective communication and program marketing skills.
- An ability to motivate and work with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Preference for candidates with backgrounds in Psychology, Human Resources, Sociology, Political Science, Communications, or Business Administration.

- This is a paid, full-time position.
- Hiring range: $45,000 to $47,000.
