About the role#
This position is for foreign-trained pharmacists looking to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist in a retail setting. The goal is to build your clinical knowledge and prepare for US pharmacist licensure. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain your pharmacist license within 120 days of finishing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Complete required US internship hours and training programs.
- Ensure a safe, effective pharmacy environment focused on patient safety and quality assurance.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage pharmacy inventory.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating staff and developing team members.
- Identify business opportunities and solutions to improve pharmacy performance.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs and support immunization services.
- Provide customer service by greeting patients, answering phones, and resolving concerns.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and protect patient confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
What you'll need#
- Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited pharmacy school.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- Active pharmacy intern license in the state of California.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
