About the role#
As a foreign-trained pharmacist, this internship allows you to complete your required US internship hours while developing your professional skills in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in patient care, pharmacy operations, and leadership. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Ventura, California.
What you'll do#
- Deliver patient care under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes and resolving third-party rejections.
- Perform prescription pick-up procedures and maintain inventory levels.
- Provide health care services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, as permitted by state regulation.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Lead pharmacy support staff, coordinate their training, and help manage workflow.
- Maintain pharmacy standards for safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- An active pharmacy intern license in California.
- Successful completion of the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- Commitment to complete all required US internship hours within 18 months.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure in California within 120 days of completing your internship hours.
- Strong communication, active listening, and emotional intelligence skills.
- Proficiency in time management and digital literacy.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
