About the role#
This position is designed for foreign-educated pharmacy graduates to complete their required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop your skills in patient care, practice management, and pharmacy operations. The program requires completion of internship hours within 18 months, with the goal of obtaining pharmacist licensure in California within 120 days of completing your hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Adopt and manage patient care programs to support customer health.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating and developing support staff.
- Identify business opportunities to improve pharmacy performance.
- Greet customers, assist with their questions, and perform register transactions.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes and resolving third-party rejections.
- Maintain inventory management policies and procedures.
- Deliver health care services, such as immunizations, as permitted by state regulation.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- A degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL.
- An active pharmacy intern license in California.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligibility to immunize.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
