About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a training roadmap that covers pharmacy operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy functions and team interactions.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations like production, pick-up, and drive-thru.
- Support patient health by offering immunizations, point-of-care testing, and fielding medical questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers where allowed by law.
- Provide coaching to pharmacy team members and contribute to a positive, inclusive team environment.
- Complete inventory tasks such as processing deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status to prepare and administer vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Remain flexible with scheduling, including nights and weekends, and travel to other stores in the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly between duties, and ensure prescription accuracy.
- Strong communication, active listening, and mathematical reasoning skills for tasks like calculating dosages.
- Ability to remain upright for extended periods, reach overhead, stoop, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Close visual acuity for tasks like reading labels and viewing computer terminals.
- Preferred: 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Preferred: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
