About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a training roadmap to gain hands-on experience in retail pharmacy operations. This role focuses on developing your clinical and technical skills to prepare you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify prescription details when necessary.
- Complete inventory tasks including cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
