About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role focuses on gaining hands-on experience with store, district, and regional operations to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patient expectations are met.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap and key learning experiences.
- Ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel patients, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- 1+ years of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market.
