About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your didactic pharmacy school learning into real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap focused on Key Learning Experiences to prepare for a future Pharmacist role. This position involves gaining an overview of store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in daily tasks.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy operations to ensure prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures and workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Deliver caring service and assist in resolving patient problems.
- Offer to counsel, field medical questions, and solicit medical history information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities like cycle counts, returns, and putting away deliveries.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required for the role.
- 1+ years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified is preferred.
- Ability to work at your home store and travel to other locations within the market is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite is preferred.
