About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will join a project team to perform engineering and design duties. You will work under direct supervision to develop your job knowledge and technical abilities. This position requires travel for short periods and occasional site visits to gain hands-on experience with substation construction.
What you'll do#
- Create or modify civil and structural design documents and drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks including structural analysis and wind load calculations.
- Learn and apply industry standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI.
- Use the internal document management system and follow corporate engineering practices.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
- Identify project-related problems and propose potential solutions to the team.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis and steel and concrete design.
- Familiarity with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and e-mail software.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with co-workers, vendors, and clients.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Preference is given to candidates with a power focus or prior internship experience in the power field.
