About the role#
Fairfax Animal Hospital offers a DVM/VMD externship for students interested in companion animal care and emergency medicine. You will work alongside experienced veterinarians in a practice that has served the community for over seventy years. Our team focuses on soft tissue surgery, wellness care, and basic orthopedic surgery. We provide mentorship from multiple veterinarians, including those with Fear Free certification and specialized training in soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
What you'll do#
- Provide support in the veterinary care and treatment of animals.
- Participate in surgical procedures under the supervision of our staff.
- Assist with diagnostics and emergency care tasks.
- Engage with clients and educate them on proper animal care.
- Collaborate with our veterinary team members to ensure quality patient care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an AVMA accredited Veterinary School in a VMD or DVM degree path.
- An interest in gaining hands-on experience in animal care and emergency medicine.
- A willingness to learn from experienced veterinarians.
- The ability to work with a variety of animal species.
- A compassionate and caring attitude toward animals.
