About the role#
Suffield Veterinary Hospital offers a hands-on externship and preceptorship program for students currently enrolled in an accredited Veterinary Technician program. This role provides practical experience in a clinical setting to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work directly with our team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in a supportive environment.
What you'll do#
- Assist with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgeries.
- Conduct laboratory tests including bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Take radiographs.
- Care for hospitalized animals.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong interest in animal care and a desire to learn.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology is helpful.
