About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the opportunity to work within a dialysis health care team. You will provide medical nutrition therapy under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian. You will follow company policies and regulatory requirements while supporting patient care.
What you'll do#
- Review renal nutrition basics and the daily workflow of a renal dietitian.
- Conduct patient nutrition interviews and calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients and their caregivers.
- Collect data for nutrition assessments and assist in developing nutrition plans of care.
- Review monthly nutrition data with patients and practice writing progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects for staff or patients, such as educational handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement sessions.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Coordinated Program in Dietetics or a Dietetic Internship.
- A desire to deliver superior patient care.
- Strong customer service skills.
