About the role#
This clinical placement offers students the chance to work within a dialysis health care team. You will function under the direct supervision of a registered dietitian, following company policies and federal regulations. The role involves hands-on patient interaction and support for the development of nutrition care plans.
What you'll do#
- Conduct nutrition interviews with patients.
- Calculate diet prescription recommendations.
- Provide nutrition counseling to patients or their caregivers.
- Collect data for initial, 90 day, semi-annual, and annual Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Assessments.
- Assist the registered dietitian in developing and implementing nutrition plans of care.
- Review monthly nutrition data and practice writing progress notes.
- Create nutrition-related projects, such as education handouts or lobby activities.
- Attend interdisciplinary team meetings.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Current enrollment in a Dietetic Internship or a university-based Coordinated Program in Dietetics.
- Alignment with Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) standards.
