About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work within our retail pharmacy to provide essential support to our patients and the pharmacy team. This role focuses on maintaining a welcoming environment, ensuring accurate prescription processing, and assisting customers with their medication needs under the guidance of our pharmacists.
What you'll do#
- Welcome customers and answer questions about products throughout the store.
- Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense medications, process third-party insurance claims, and contact prescribers for authorization.
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean and safe department, reporting any safety risks or incidents to management.
- Assist diverse groups, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment while managing conflict in a professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Capacity to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
