About the role#
General Motors is hiring Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position where you will gain hands-on experience by supporting mechanical programs and operations within a plant environment. You will work directly with plant personnel to improve processes and maintain equipment.
What you'll do#
- Perform mechanical root cause analysis and solve technical problems.
- Analyze products, processes, and technology to determine the most efficient manufacturing methods.
- Assist in the design and construction of tools and equipment.
- Provide technical support to maintenance personnel for specialized equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate machinery upgrade projects.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds, climbing, and standing for prolonged periods.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics.
- Graduation date between August 2027 and June 2029.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Willingness to work in a non-climate-controlled plant environment and wear required personal protective equipment.
