About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Giant Eagle, you will work as part of our pharmacy team to provide accurate care and service to our patients. You will build relationships with patients while assisting in the safe and efficient dispensing of medications. This role requires you to perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician while gaining practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Welcome patients at pharmacy entry points with a professional and helpful approach.
- Manage inventory levels by submitting online orders and adjusting on-hand counts.
- Process prescription information, including calculations and insurance billing data.
- Assist with the safe dispensing of medications and durable medical equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment that meets company and government standards.
- Finalize sales at the register and process medical expense reports.
- Support team members with daily tasks to keep the department running efficiently.
- Comply with all company policies, HIPAA regulations, and pseudoephedrine requirements.
What you'll need#
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program.
- Active in-state Pharmacy Intern License.
- 0 to 6 months of relevant experience.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
