About the role#
This internship at Devon Seafood and Steak helps you build operational skills in a high-volume scratch kitchen. You will learn knife skills, sanitation, recipe adherence, and proper food handling. You will work across stations including the hot line and prep cooking. We rotate interns through departments based on your abilities and interest. You will learn systems that promote consistency and quality across our restaurant group.
What you'll do#
- Prepare entrees, appetizers, soups, sandwiches, and side items.
- Follow verbal directions and written recipes quickly and accurately.
- Maintain a clean work area using ServSafe training and State Food Safety regulations.
- Demonstrate safe handling of tools, knives, and kitchen equipment.
- Assist in general food preparation and perform other job-related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You must be 18 years of age or older.
- You are currently enrolled in a culinary or pastry program, or you graduated within the last 6 months.
- One year of industry-related food and beverage experience is preferred.
- You can work in an organized manner either alone or as part of a team.
- You have a working knowledge of kitchen equipment, knife skills, weights, measures, and basic math.
- You have the ability to distinguish flavors, spices, and temperatures.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, paid position in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
- The term runs from August 2026 through December 2026.
- This role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- You must have reliable transportation to and from your work assignments.
- Company coordinated housing may be available for a weekly fee of $160, which covers utilities and limited transportation.
- Physical requirements include constant standing, finger dexterity, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
