About the role#
IAT Insurance Group is offering a 10-week paid internship within our Contract Surety Business Unit. This role provides exposure to an underwriting department and direct access to subject matter experts. You will learn the fundamentals of underwriting and apply these concepts to real accounts.
What you'll do#
- Attend educational sessions with the underwriting team, product experts, and claim specialists.
- Set individual performance goals and track your progress throughout the summer.
- Apply underwriting concepts to actual accounts and present your findings.
- Prepare and deliver a capstone project to the team.
- Assist with additional tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore or higher in a degree program such as Risk Management, Finance, Mathematics, Business, Economics, or Accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical staff.
- A willingness to learn financial analysis.
- Authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This position is based in our Spring, Texas office. You must be able to work from this location without housing or relocation assistance.
- The program runs from May 27, 2027, to July 30, 2027.
- This is a full-time, hybrid role. You will work from the office Monday through Wednesday, with the option to work remotely on Thursday and Friday.
