About the role#
ICF is looking for a Software Developer Intern to join our technology team for the summer of 2027. This is a 10-week, full-time program based in Reston, Virginia. You will work alongside experienced developers, architects, and analysts to build technology solutions that address real-world business needs. You will gain exposure to enterprise application platforms, cloud technologies, and emerging AI capabilities.
What you'll do#
- Design, configure, develop, test, and deploy enterprise software applications.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Create workflows, automations, user experiences, and application features using both low-code platforms and traditional coding practices.
- Assist with application testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
- Contribute to technical documentation and project deliverables.
- Support integration efforts involving APIs, enterprise data, and cloud services.
- Participate in Agile delivery activities, including sprint ceremonies and team collaboration.
- Learn software development best practices regarding security, performance, and accessibility.
- Explore artificial intelligence, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted development.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or planning to pursue a bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Completion of at least 15 college-level credit hours by the start date.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Exposure to programming concepts through coursework, academic projects, personal projects, or hackathons.
- Familiarity with languages or technologies such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, or HTML/CSS.
- Understanding of software development methodologies like Agile.
- Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Git, GitHub, Jira, or Confluence.
- Interest in low-code platforms like Salesforce, ServiceNow, or Appian.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Compensation: Paid internship ($37,855.00 - $64,354.00 per year based on full-time employment).
