About the role#
We are looking for a Piping Designer Co-Op to join our Piping Engineering team for a 12-month contract starting in January 2027. This role offers the chance to gain practical experience on engineering and design projects while developing your technical skills. You will work directly with experienced engineers and designers on projects from the development stage through to completion.
What you'll do#
- Develop and modify piping layouts and design drawings.
- Prepare and update piping plans, isometrics, and technical documentation.
- Assist with 3D piping modelling and equipment layout.
- Review models and drawings for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Support engineers with design calculations and material take-offs.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, maintenance, procurement, and project teams.
- Update as-built documentation for installation and commissioning.
- Follow company procedures and Canadian codes including CSA, ASME, and ISO.
- Maintain revision control within corporate document management systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
- A basic understanding of drafting principles and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- Previous coursework in piping design, mechanical design, or drafting is an asset.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Revit, or Inventor is an asset.
