About the role#
The International Telecommunication Union is seeking an intern to support its work on circular economy and climate change initiatives. This role focuses on the Asia and the Pacific region, helping to implement projects that address e-waste regulation, greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainable ICT procurement. This is a full-time, unpaid internship with a rolling term of 6 months.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of projects related to climate change and the circular economy.
- Support the promotion of activities that encourage countries in Asia and the Pacific to participate in standardization efforts.
- Help organize meetings and workshops to build partnerships, raise awareness, and support resource mobilization.
- Participate in meetings with public and private sector stakeholders.
- Maintain and update databases regarding e-waste regulation and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Conduct research on topics such as green data centers and sustainable procurement.
What you'll need#
- A university degree, or current enrollment in an undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate program, in global environmental governance, sustainable development, environmental studies, or a related field. Recent graduates within six months of completion are also eligible.
- Citizenship of an ITU Member State.
- Applicants must be under 30 years of age, though exceptions may be considered for Ph.D. students.
- An advanced level of English.
- Knowledge of circular economy and climate change issues.
- Strong documentation skills and the ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Interpersonal skills and a willingness to work collaboratively.
- Familiarity with or a willingness to learn online applications and social media tools.
