About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in delivering high-quality care to our customers. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide clinical services and ensure the pharmacy operates efficiently and safely. This role requires a commitment to professional growth and a focus on creating a welcoming environment for every patient.
What you'll do#
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Input patient and prescription information into the computer system.
- Dispense correct medications and bag them for customer delivery.
- Provide drug counseling and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies on behalf of customers.
- Process third-party insurance information and facilitate charge purchases.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking, stocking, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Keep the department clean and organized.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report safety risks, theft, fraud, or accidents to management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a reasonable and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and patient information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Experience or comfort providing support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Ability to perform all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
