About the role#
Labcorp is seeking a Research & Development Intern to join the noninvasive prenatal diagnostics team in San Diego. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2027. You will work on-site with a team focused on cell-free DNA for prenatal screening. This role offers exposure to laboratory science, data analysis, and professional development within a global diagnostics environment.
What you'll do#
- Develop noninvasive prenatal diagnostic tests.
- Use statistical programs to analyze and visualize data to extract insights.
- Build technical skills in areas such as multiplex PCR, digital PCR, mass spectrometry, and sequencing.
- Participate in training sessions and apply new laboratory techniques.
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow good laboratory practices.
- Collaborate with team members and engage in professional development workshops.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Systems Biology, Biochemistry, or Biomedical Engineering.
- 3-6 months of experience working with nucleic acids, proteins, and PCR.
- 3-6 months of experience or knowledge regarding next-generation sequencing technology.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Punctuality, professionalism, and a genuine interest in laboratory science.
- Eagerness to learn new scientific concepts and laboratory skills.

- Location: San Diego, California.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027 - August 13, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
- Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
