About the role#
Labcorp is seeking a Biorepository Intern to join our team in Greenfield, Indiana. This internship provides hands-on experience in the storage, management, and processing of clinical trial specimens. You will work within a department that utilizes automated freezer technology and liquid handling systems to maintain millions of samples for future research.
What you'll do#
- Ensure clinical trial specimens are maintained in appropriate environments to preserve biological viability.
- Perform specimen aliquoting and other sample processing activities.
- Complete study loads, updates, specimen registration, de-identification, shipping, and disposal.
- Manage data imports and modifications within applicable systems.
- Research and resolve sample discrepancies and specimen-related issues.
- Monitor and respond to storage unit alarms and perform daily assessments of freezer nodes.
- Assist with freezer calibration and relocate specimens during equipment failures.
- Monitor freezer space utilization and coordinate storage optimization.
- Maintain audit trails, training records, and departmental documentation.
- Participate in customer audits and provide operational demonstrations.
- Collaborate with management and stakeholders while providing feedback on SOPs and quality improvements.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or Laboratory Science.
- Ability to perform laboratory-based specimen handling and processing according to established procedures.
- At least 3 months of experience using computer applications for data entry and record maintenance.
- Coursework in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related laboratory sciences.
- At least 3 months of experience handling biological specimens in an academic, research, or laboratory setting.
- Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or specimen tracking systems.
- Experience in a clinical research, biorepository, or regulated laboratory environment.

- Location: Greenfield, Indiana.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027).
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
