About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work with the engineering team at Leonardo DRS. You will assist with various engineering assignments to gain familiarity with our methods, programs, and practices. This role is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Palm Bay, Florida, during the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers with design details, calculations, and analysis.
- Conduct limited scope testing under supervision.
- Gather and assemble data for engineering projects.
- Carry out basic work instructions to learn company fundamentals.
- Perform research in specific fields as needed.
- Complete assigned tasks on time while supporting the company mission.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Strong understanding of software development using C/C++ and Python on Linux, with some experience on Windows.
- Solid grasp of multi-threading and multi-processing concepts.
- Ability to build professional networks and work well with others.
- Diligent, hardworking, and quick to learn.
- Experience with embedded drivers on Linux (TCP/IP, UART, I2C, PCIe) is preferred.
- Familiarity with Git, Jira, peer code reviews, and Agile methodologies is a plus.
