About the role#
As a Software Test Engineering Co-op, you will write test automation that runs on real hardware and processes live sensor data from the electric grid. You will help develop our platform that turns real-time sensor and weather data into actionable insights for utilities. You will focus on automated testing across the stack, ranging from Python data pipelines to TypeScript web apps.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, test, and maintain software test automation and internal tools.
- Contribute to the development of KIT, our internal tooling and framework for software test automation.
- Integrate with internal and external APIs, cloud services, and databases.
- Contribute to new system design and proof-of-concept exploration.
- Support team goals for continuous improvement.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and Javascript.
- Experience with web application front ends and RESTful API backends.
- Understanding of object-oriented and functional design principles, databases, distributed software design, and Agile methodologies.
- A disciplined approach to test-driven software development.
- Initiative, creative problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
- Nice to have: Experience with Typescript, SQL, React, Node, or cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
Location & details#
- Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
- Term: Winter and Summer 2027 (January 19 to August 27, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid (2-4 days per week on-site at our Charlestown headquarters).
- Status: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $25 per hour.
