About the role#
This is an 11-week internship program based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Creative Design team to develop new interior spaces for Meijer stores. This role involves direct collaboration with business owners to review your designs and culminates in a final presentation of your approved recommendations.
What you'll do#
- Focus on interior finishes, interior architecture, permanent interior graphics, and fixture design.
- Present design concepts to Meijer business owners for feedback and alignment.
- Gain exposure to various business functions including procurement, construction, merchandising, marketing, and real estate.
- Participate in professional development, networking events, and an executive speaker series.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architectural Design, Graphic Design, or Industrial Design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Developing skills in 2D design using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Developing skills in 3D design software such as SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Rhinoceros, or Revit.
- Interest in applying Artificial Intelligence to design projects.
- An understanding of current design trends and how to apply them to real-world scenarios.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey information visually, verbally, and in writing.
- A customer-focused mindset with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
