About the role#
This is a full-time Electrical Engineering internship or co-op position based in Oak Brook, Illinois, for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside experienced engineers to prepare drawings, calculations, and deliverables for client design projects. The role requires collaboration with other engineering disciplines to provide cohesive packages for our clients.
What you'll do#
- Complete calculations of limited complexity, including lighting distribution, conduit and cable tray fills, voltage drop, and feeder sizing, with supervision as needed.
- Develop and maintain Electrical Single Line Diagrams, Schematic and Interconnection Diagrams, and schedules or plans for lighting, grounding, power, controls, and raceway.
- Support the development of Power System Study models for short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and arc flash calculations.
- Assist experienced Electrical Engineers with their daily activities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
- Effective communication skills to convey ideas clearly.
- Ability to work within diverse teams including Nexus staff and clients.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drafting software is preferred.
- Familiarity with Power System modeling software such as ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower is desirable.
