About the role#
The Facilities Mechanical Engineer / AutoCAD Design Intern supports the Facilities Maintenance and Engineering team at our Columbus, Mississippi engine plant. This role focuses on the planning, design, and documentation of facility infrastructure systems. You will gain hands-on experience in an active manufacturing environment while working alongside facilities managers, engineers, and maintenance staff to support plant operations and facility improvements.
What you'll do#
- Update, maintain, and revise AutoCAD drawings for facility layouts, mechanical systems, and electrical schematics.
- Assist with space planning, renovations, equipment installations, and facility improvement projects.
- Conduct field verifications, site walkdowns, and measurements to create accurate as-built documentation.
- Review drawings to ensure they meet established drafting and engineering standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and help develop standard work procedures for facility operations.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders on design support materials and project tasks.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
- A basic understanding of building systems, such as HVAC, utilities, and electrical infrastructure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
