About the role#
The Pala Band of Mission Indians is seeking a GIS Intern II to support the Tribe’s GIS program. This is an unpaid, part-time, temporary position. Interns must commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week. You will work directly under the GIS Director to assist with data management and mapping projects.
What you'll do#
- Fulfill map and GIS data requests for the Tribe.
- Scan and organize both paper and digital records.
- Update and maintain GIS datasets, geodatabases, and Excel records.
- Manage the Tribe’s Enterprise Geodatabase and GIS Portal.
- Create new GIS data through manual entry, georeferencing, digitizing, and GPS collection.
- Perform quality assurance and data verification to maintain data integrity.
What you'll need#
- Current or completed coursework in Geographic Information Systems at an accredited college or university.
- A valid California Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a background check and a fingerprint-based background check.
- Ability to pass pre-internship and random drug testing, as this is a drug-free workplace.
- Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online is preferred.
