About the role#
POET is seeking two Accounting Interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship based at our office in Wichita, Kansas. You will work directly with our suppliers and customers, helping to maintain our general ledger and supporting financial systems. Your work will support our cash flow and the foundation of our financial statements.
What you'll do#
- Generate invoices, review them for accuracy, and send them to customers.
- Process purchase invoices for payment and load them into our accounting software.
- Reconcile purchase invoices for month-end settlement.
- Identify, research, and resolve counterparty payment discrepancies.
- Create daily ACH and wire files.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve billing errors and customer disputes.
- Assist with vendor maintenance and update process documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, and GAAP.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and a desire to provide solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software programs.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
