About the role#
This externship program is designed for students currently enrolled in a Nationally Accredited Medical Assistant program at Carrington College, CWI, or MCA. The program lasts 4-5 weeks, totaling 160-180 hours depending on your school requirements. You will participate in a week-long orientation, complete digital training on company policies, and receive one-on-one training with assigned preceptors across settings including Urgent Care and Family Practice.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient examinations and treatments, including casting, bracing, and injections.
- Provide clinical triage and communicate instructions to patients.
- Prepare treatment rooms and maintain medical equipment.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and prepare specimens.
- Conduct phlebotomy, including labeling and processing samples.
- Manage patient flow, paperwork, and customer service tasks.
- Document patient encounters and interventions accurately.
- Help the front office with scheduling and referrals.
- Support the team during emergency situations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Nationally Accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Successful completion of an interview and a skills assessment conducted by our staff covering triage, medication administration, and venipuncture.
- Proficiency in venipuncture.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional attitude.
- Computer proficiency and the ability to use required software.
- Completion of a background check and drug screening.
