About the role#
As a Transmission Line Engineering Intern, you will work with experienced engineers and project managers. You will help design, build, and maintain high-voltage transmission infrastructure. This role provides hands-on experience with engineering methods used to deliver power across communities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
- Support drafting and mapping tasks using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
- Perform engineering calculations like sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks under supervision.
- Prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
- Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
- Implement engineering redlines and maintain organized project records.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
- Basic understanding of design codes and standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
- Strong attention to detail and interest in power delivery systems.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
