About the role#
As an Engineering Intern for the Transmission Line team, you will work with engineers and project managers to design and maintain high-voltage transmission infrastructure. This role provides experience with engineering methods used to support the electric grid.
What you'll do#
- Assist with overhead transmission line design tasks, including PLS-CADD modeling and structure analysis.
- Create and update drafting and mapping using software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, or ArcGIS.
- Perform engineering calculations such as pole loading checks and sag-tension analysis.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and design packages for project deliverables.
- Take part in field data collection, design reviews, and technical meetings.
- Work approximately 40 hours per week.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- Familiarity with design tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
- Basic knowledge of industry design codes and standards, including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively.
