About the role#
SCS Engineers is hiring a summer 2027 intern for our Tampa, Florida office. You will work 40 hours per week on-site with our project teams. This role provides hands-on experience in technical engineering and business operations. You will support projects related to landfill design, landfill permitting, environmental compliance, soil and groundwater remediation, and stormwater management. You will work alongside experienced professionals to gain exposure to diverse engineering and science projects.
What you'll do#
- Collect environmental and construction material samples.
- Support field staff with documentation and data collection.
- Manage and review laboratory data.
- Prepare reports, calculations, figures, graphs, tables, and maps.
- Handle CAD drafting tasks.
- Assist with compliance reporting.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in civil, environmental, biological, biosystems, or geological engineering.
- Expected graduation date no later than June 2029.
- Ability to live in the Tampa area for Summer 2027.
- Solid technical and computer skills, with a preference for AutoCAD experience.
- Previous experience working on a team.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel overnight for work outside the office.
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Preference for candidates interested in a consulting career and professional licensure.

- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Schedule: Summer 2027, typically May or June through August or September.
- Work Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour.
