About the role#
SCS Engineers is hiring a summer 2027 intern for our office in Overland Park, Kansas. This role provides hands-on experience in technical engineering and business operations across a variety of client projects. You will work 40 hours per week on-site, five days a week. The internship runs from May or June through August or September 2027, with flexible start and end dates to accommodate your academic schedule.
What you'll do#
You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects including landfill construction and permitting, storm water management, utility work, and soil and groundwater remediation. You will also support brownfield redevelopment, site development, and sustainability initiatives. Your daily tasks include:
- Construction observation and documentation
- Collecting environmental and construction material samples
- Managing and reviewing laboratory data
- Preparing compliance reports
- Performing surveying tasks
- Preparing reports and calculations
- CAD drafting
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil, environmental, geological, or biological systems engineering
- Expected graduation by June 2029
- Willingness to live in the Overland Park area for the summer of 2027
- Solid technical and computer skills, with AutoCAD experience being a plus
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to travel overnight for work outside the office when required
- Preference for candidates interested in a career in consulting and professional licensure
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Overland Park, Kansas. Compensation ranges from $22.00 to $25.00 per hour.
