About the role#
Vertiv is hiring an Engineering Sustainability Graduate Intern to support product-related sustainability initiatives within our Core Engineering team. This role focuses on technical product impacts, such as carbon footprint reduction and material sustainability, rather than corporate-level reporting or office facility programs. You will work on global initiatives requiring a strong technical foundation to help us measure, document, and improve our product sustainability.
What you'll do#
- Identify and collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to source sustainable materials and improve supply chain transparency.
- Collect, analyze, and validate product sustainability data, including energy usage, waste, and bill of materials documentation.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) for products and processes to support environmental impact assessments.
- Assist in calculating carbon footprints and identifying strategies to reduce carbon emissions.
- Develop systems to archive and analyze data for published product reports.
- Participate in training sessions to help product designers and procurement teams implement sustainable practices.
- Ensure documentation meets standards such as ISO 14040, 14044, and 14025, alongside EU Digital Product Passport requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience or coursework in sustainability engineering or carbon accounting.
- Ability to balance a passion for sustainability with technical problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of how corporations operate and how to navigate technical and human networks to achieve goals.
- Familiarity with sustainability reporting standards like ISO 14040, 14044, and 14025 is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
