About the role#
SCS Engineers is hiring an Engineering Intern for our San Diego office for Summer 2027. This full-time, paid position provides hands-on experience in technical engineering and business operations. You will work 40 hours per week, five days a week, alongside experienced professionals on projects focused on solid waste. This role includes both office tasks and field work.
What you'll do#
- Assist project teams with design support for landfills and landfill gas systems, including permitting and construction plans.
- Oversee drilling activities such as probe and well installation, borehole logging, and sampling.
- Conduct and document construction quality assurance observations and inspections.
- Compile data and prepare basic calculations for reports, including environmental site assessments, emissions, and groundwater investigations.
- Help prepare permit applications and regulatory agency submittals.
- Perform environmental and construction materials sample collection.
- Manage and review laboratory data.
- Complete surveying and CAD drafting tasks.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering.
- Graduation date by June 2029.
- Ability to live in the San Diego area for the duration of the internship.
- Solid technical and computer skills, with AutoCAD experience considered a plus.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- A desire to pursue a career in consulting and professional licensure after graduation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

- Compensation: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour.
