About the role#
As a Field Engineer Intern at PCL Construction, you will take on responsibilities similar to a full-time, entry-level Field Engineer. This role provides hands-on experience in project management, field supervision, pre-construction, and estimating. You will be assigned to a specific project team and work under the guidance of a designated mentor. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support Field Engineers, Project Managers, and Superintendents with daily project tasks.
- Conduct safety and quality audits.
- Read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
- Log submittals, process RFIs, and prepare project reports.
- Assist with surveying, project layout, and the coordination of subcontractors, vendors, and field staff.
- Maintain field drawings, equipment records, and documentation.
- Coordinate material deliveries.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes, memos, and contracts.
- Assist with estimating and soliciting pricing from suppliers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- A career interest in project management, field supervision, or estimating.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- At least 18 years of age with a valid Driver License.
- Willingness to work as designated and temporarily relocate to project sites.
- Ability to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders and stairs.
- Ability to work near heavy equipment and cranes.
- Successful completion of a background check, physical, and substance abuse test.
