About the role#
The AES Indiana Generation team is looking for a Co-op Engineer to support operations, maintenance, and asset performance initiatives. You will work at the Harding Street Station and other AES Indiana generating facilities, including Georgetown and Eagle Valley. This role reports to the Gas Turbine and DCS Team Lead and provides hands-on experience in power generation, maintenance planning, project execution, and plant optimization. You will collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, environmental, safety, and project management teams.
What you'll do#
- Support daily troubleshooting of operational and maintenance issues, including field investigations and technical analysis.
- Assist the Operations, Wastewater, and Gas Turbine teams with project and outage planning.
- Participate in outage execution and coordinate between Operations, Maintenance, and Outage teams, which may include occasional weekend or off-shift work.
- Conduct plant asset performance assessments and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts.
- Manage Management of Change (MOC) processes and coordinate Prior-to-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Perform data analysis using systems like EtaPRO, PI, and EDS to support leadership.
- Lead small OPEX-funded projects from planning through execution.
- Assist with work management tasks in SAP, such as creating notifications and purchase requisitions.
- Support financial activities, including budget reviews, forecasting, and project-related financial analyses.
- Contribute to EHS initiatives through safety walks, audits, and environmental compliance efforts.
- Support NERC-related activities and GADS reporting.
What you'll need#
- You are pursuing or have completed a 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
- You have a valid state-issued driver's license.
- You are authorized to work in the State of Indiana.
