    About the role#

    As a Co-op Machine Learning Software Engineer at RBC Borealis, you will work with researchers and business teams to develop machine learning software. You will handle projects from end to end, including data pre-processing, algorithm implementation, and front-end development. You will have access to large datasets and computational resources to support development in areas like reinforcement learning, unsupervised learning, and computer vision.

    What you'll do#

    • Build machine learning-based software solutions to solve bank challenges.
    • Collaborate with research and business teams to define and implement solutions.
    • Optimize algorithms and prototypes for efficient performance.
    • Extend prototypes into functional, polished solutions for internal or external use.
    • Support projects by documenting usage, design decisions, and capabilities.
    • Extract, transform, and load massive datasets using distributed computing frameworks like Hadoop or Spark.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a bachelors or masters degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or an equivalent field.
    • Previous software development experience, including prior co-ops or internships.
    • Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as C++, C#, Java, or Python.
    • Familiarity with the Unix command line and bash scripting.
    • Experience with Deep Learning packages like Tensorflow, Theano, Keras, or PyTorch is an asset.
    • Exposure to SQL, NoSQL, graph databases, or distributed computing frameworks is an asset.

    • Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position.
    • Compensation: This is a paid, salaried position.
