    About the role#

    RBC Borealis is the AI research and engineering group at RBC. We are hiring a Machine Learning Software Engineer for a 4 to 8 month internship during the Winter 2027 term. You will work alongside researchers and business teams to develop software solutions that address complex financial challenges. This role involves the full project lifecycle, from initial data processing to the deployment of functional machine learning models.

    What you'll do#

    • Build machine learning software solutions to solve real-world problems.
    • Collaborate with research and business teams to define and implement the best approaches.
    • Optimize algorithms and prototypes for efficient, production-ready implementation.
    • Extract, transform, and load massive datasets using distributed computing frameworks.
    • Document design decisions, usage, and system capabilities for your projects.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • Prior software development experience, including previous internships or co-ops.
    • Proficiency in at least one major programming language such as C++, C#, Java, or Python.
    • Familiarity with the Unix command line and bash scripting.
    • Experience with deep learning libraries like Tensorflow, Keras, or PyTorch.
    • Exposure to distributed computing frameworks or database technologies is an asset.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid position.
    • The role is based on-site in Toronto, Calgary, or Vancouver.
