About the role#
This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work with senior energy traders and analysts in the gas and power sector. You will contribute to live projects within risk analytics, independent valuation, or Middle Office control automation. The goal is to produce deliverables that the desk will continue to use after your internship ends. At the conclusion of the program, you will present your work to leadership across trading, risk, and finance.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside senior traders and analysts to learn proprietary methodologies, ETRM trade capture, and trading systems.
- Develop automation and data-processing tools using Python or SQL.
- Build and refine reporting for risk, P&L, and key performance indicators.
- Support independent valuation and mark-to-market validation, including work on forward curves, discounting, and option valuation.
- Apply AI and machine learning techniques to energy market problems, such as price forecasting and scenario construction.
- Gain exposure to stochastic modeling of energy prices and the valuation of physical optionality like gas storage and transport agreements.
- Identify control gaps and suggest process improvements.
- Liaise between different company departments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student for the Fall 2027 semester, with graduation occurring after the internship ends.
- A weighted GPA of 3.3 or higher.
- Pursuing a degree in finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a related field.
- Solid skills in R, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to think clearly under pressure.
- A mindset focused on challenging the status quo and driving innovation.
- Legal authorization to work in the USA without the need for sponsorship.
