About the role#
The Leadership Intern program provides students with hands-on experience in tribal operations, gaming, and business ventures. You will work in a supportive environment to learn the skills necessary for future leadership roles within the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe. Interns are placed in departments that align with their degree path, though assignments may shift based on organizational needs.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside a department director or supervisor to gain managerial experience.
- Intern within Tribal Operations or other tribal business enterprises.
- Participate in cultural and academic professional development opportunities.
- Provide consistent, high-quality customer service to all internal and external contacts.
- Complete your degree requirements within four calendar years of your hire date.
What you'll need#
- You must be a Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Member.
- You must be a full-time college student pursuing a degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- You must provide documentation of acceptance at an accredited college or university in Michigan.
- You must have a cumulative 2.5 grade point average or higher.
- You must have completed at least twelve credit hours of college coursework or one year of the SCIT Youth Co-Op program.
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Location & details#
- Location: Mt Pleasant, Michigan.
- Work Modality: On-site and remote options are available depending on department needs.
- Schedule: Full-time, 32 hours per week, with shifts adjusted to accommodate your class schedule.
- Compensation: $14.49 per hour.
