About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Bloomfield, Connecticut. You will work on commercial and institutional construction projects as part of the Building Envelope Commissioning team. This is a field-heavy position, requiring weekly travel by car to various project sites throughout New England.
What you'll do#
- Assist with building envelope evaluations, forensics, and diagnostic testing on existing buildings.
- Conduct envelope tests during construction, including window air and water tests, infrared imaging, blower door tests, adhesion tests, and fog tests. We will provide training on these procedures.
- Perform envelope inspections and assist with energy audits focused on the building envelope.
- Participate in commissioning meetings and support the team with plan and specification reviews.
- Write field reports and assist in the development of commissioning plans and specifications.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a major in architecture or construction management, with completed coursework in construction, engineering, architecture, or related fields.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and email.
- Ability to read commercial construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Strong written communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.
- A valid driver’s license and a dependable automobile for travel to project sites.
- Prior experience with energy audits, blower door testing, or infrared imaging is helpful but not required.
