About the role#
The Plant Engineering Intern works with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Manager to improve plant efficiency and optimize run time. You will troubleshoot process needs to maintain production levels and assist in developing predictive and preventative maintenance programs. This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Identify process needs and troubleshoot issues to maintain production levels.
- Develop predictive and preventative maintenance programs, including determining equipment, tools, and inspection frequencies.
- Collaborate with the maintenance department and outside vendors on program development.
- Partner with the management team to strengthen and refine plant operating procedures.
- Maintain project confidentiality and foster a culture of safety and environmental compliance.
- Work in a team environment and represent the company within the community.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior at an accredited 4-year college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Agricultural Engineering.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week across various shifts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a willingness to learn new programs.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and an innovative mindset.
- High level of personal integrity and the ability to adapt to change.
- Experience with DCS control and DCS historian systems is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Groton, South Dakota.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 60 pounds, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in various temperatures ranging from -20 to 100 degrees.
