About the role#
SAR High School seeks a Beit Midrash Fellow to join our Judaic Studies team. This full-time position centers on the Beit Midrash, which serves as the hub of our school. You will split your time between teaching, supporting small group learning, and pursuing your own studies. We offer two tracks for fellows: a professional track for those exploring education before other career paths, and a chinuch track for those considering a long-term career in teaching. Ten of our current faculty members began their careers in this fellowship.
What you'll do#
- Teach and learn within the Beit Midrash.
- Support small group learning in Judaic studies classes.
- Design and implement co-curricular activities that promote school themes.
- Participate in weekly educational leadership seminars with our administration and faculty.
- Engage in individual learning directed by Rabbi Shmuel Hain.
- Join students for one evening of learning per week.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to student-centered learning.
- Interest in Judaic Studies.
- Ability to design and implement co-curricular activities.
- A willingness to learn and teach under the guidance of our faculty.
- Academic background in fields such as Philosophy, History, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, Human Resources, Art, or Media Studies.
Location & details#
- This role is located in New York, NY.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- Hours are 8:00 AM to 4:50 PM, Monday through Thursday, and until 1:10 PM on Fridays.
- Fellows enrolled in graduate school receive flexibility to schedule classes on one afternoon per week.
- This is a paid fellowship with a stipend of $30,000.
