About the role#
Sentry offers a one-year co-op program for UW-Stevens Point students within our Finance department. You will gain experience across Internal Audit, Treasury Services, Premium Tax Accounting, Statutory Accounting, and Income Tax Accounting. You will work alongside a manager and mentor to learn about Sentry operations and the insurance industry. This is a paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist the Lead auditor with audit execution, control effectiveness testing, and data flow analysis.
- Partner with external auditors to perform controls and substantive testing.
- Analyze bank accounts, service charges, and payment fees while maintaining banking and investment accounting systems.
- Balance investment data to financial reporting schedules and complete year-end audit requests.
- Prepare regulatory financial filings and analyze state and local taxes.
- Review and submit journal entries and enter payment vouchers for insurance fees and taxes.
- Prepare financial statement exhibits and reconcile statements to general ledger data.
- Assist with income tax return preparation and summarize data for tax reporting.
- Communicate with internal departments and outside sources to gather information and share results with leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at UW-Stevens Point in Accounting or a related field.
- Sophomore or Junior standing with a graduation date between May 2028 and December 2029.
- Minimum GPA of 3.50.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Progress toward CPA eligibility of 150 credit hours is highly preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 through Spring 2028.
- Schedule: Full-time during Summer 2027 and school breaks; 15-20 hours per week during Fall 2027 and Spring 2028 semesters.
- Modality: Hybrid work model.
