About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Pharmacy Intern position based at the South Campus Pharmacy. You will work under the direct supervision of pharmacists and the Pharmacy Manager to support daily operations. This role is on-site in Portsmouth, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Assist pharmacists with the preparation and distribution of medications, inventory management, and stock replacement.
- Profile physician orders in the computer system for pharmacist review.
- Prepare I.V. solutions and small volume parenterals using sterile techniques.
- Fill inpatient carts and restock anesthesia carts in OR suites.
- Deliver medications to nursing units and hospital departments.
- Reconcile I.V. and critical care drips on the floor.
- Perform audits to identify narcotic discrepancies.
- Manage patient assistance programs by contacting manufacturers, obtaining income documentation, and coordinating with physicians.
- Educate patients on their responsibility for re-ordering prescriptions.
- Provide service to pharmacy window and telephone inquiries.
- Maintain general cleanliness of the work area.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an approved school of pharmacy.
- Valid PhIL(OH) license.
